Love Re-awakening
27 July 2014
Warning: Spoilers
So you know the story. Wei-chung is a middle-aged closeted gay optometrist, married with one kid. His passion is re-awakened when he meets a flight steward one day in his store. And so his inner conflict starts as he is faced in choosing to continue his closeted life with his family or show his true self.

What makes this different from other gay romantic comedies is the use of fantasy scenes and characters in its treatment. You will see a Mary Poppins-like flying character or the TV handsome male lead popping out of the screen. Score the film with something like Pixar's "UP" music, then you have a near magical tale.

But the story is not fantasy at all. Because it is happening and a lot of gay people get married with the opposite sex for the wrong reasons. At least in this part of the world.

Most characters acted well. Aside from Wei-chung, Stephen, Thomas, Feng and even Mandy and San-san with their "thinking twice about the wedding" subplot acted very naturally and convincingly. Feng's mother brings comic relief. What a great ensemble!

After Feng's decision in the end, we don't know what will happen next, but it's a good start to fully accept one's self and rediscover love.
