Review of Son

Son (2012–2013)
9/10
Excellent but a little confusing

Warning: Spoilers
Being completely new to Turkish TV, I had absolutely no idea what to expect, but within an episode of watching "Son" (The End), I was hooked!

Being mostly used to US and UK shows, Son has a very different "feel". It's a psychological thriller but the camera work and few other things has almost a soap opera feel to it. It's not a bad thing, just a little different to what I have been used to.

It is written well, a cliffhanger at the end of pretty much every episode (similar to The Killing in that sense), has some really intriguing characters, has brilliant emotive music, but the show is a bit confusing in places, probably not helped by Netflix's dodgy translations.

It is the sort of show that really requires your undivided attention. There's a lot of flashbacks, especially in the early episodes, which will make little sense to the casual viewer. And even if you do give the show your full attention, you still may not fully understand it! Why anyone would leave the absolutely stunning Nehir Erdogan (Aylin) is beyond me!

But if you can give the show your undivided attention, you will be rewarded with hours of excellent television.
