Just...just awful. A "plot" built entirely around shock value, with in your face shots and cuts meant to be artsy but that just come off as annoying. Every cliché is here, from the nonsensical "preacher" on the radio babbling pseudo-religious nonsense meant to add an eerie sense of metaphysical doom, to the overweight "doesn't know what monsters his family members are" jolly little boy. It's as though the filmmaker knew he had no real ability as a storyteller and recognized that his only chance of making something memorable was to go all out and plant visceral images in your brain. They'll stick there, but in a way that makes you wish you'd done anything else with your time then fight through this movie.
