Back to the Basics: The Making of Halloween 4 (2013)

*** 1/2 (out of 4)

When Anchor Bay and Scream Factory announced the extras for their HALLOWEEN box set one of the biggest goodies was the fact that HALLOWEEN 4 was getting a more jacked up documentary. The original one on the first Anchor Bay disc was nice but just way too short so this one here clocks in at 47-minutes and features the majority of the cast and crew. Director Dwight H. Little starts off talking about how he got involved in the project and writer Alan B. McElroy discusses what he wanted for the project and also mentions a good start to the picture that was never filmed. Producers Malek Akkad and Paul Freeman are also on hand to discuss that aspect of the film.

Actors Danielle Harris, Ellie Cornell, Sasha Jenson, George P. Wilbur and Kathleen Kinmont are also here to discuss their work on the picture. Of course the one fans are most wanting to see is Harris who is pretty open about the various subjects she talks about. Kinmont talks about her snappy attitude in the film as well as her sex scenes and the conditions that were built around it. Overall fans of the series should really enjoy this as it goes into great detail about the making of the picture. Everything from the production to the fan reaction to the box office is discussed. The only thing not really discussed was the legal matter with Carpenter and Hill that had to be resolved as the two of them backed away from the series at this point.
