Misogynist is a brilliant and welcome surprise to the thriller genre that successfully sets itself apart from any of the competition that is out there today. Instead of bringing something typical and predictable, Michael Matteo Rossi has delivered a unique story that is complimented by a greatly crafted script that never descends into the unbelievable. Instead, Misogynist maintains a faithful and engaging pacing from start to finish and allows the viewer to follow the journey of it's two main characters (Trevor and Harrison) without being sidetracked by any irrelevant plot additions.

As well as being fantastically written, it also boasts a great cast. In the role of the film's main antagonist, Trevor, Rossi could not have cast any better than Jon Briddell (for which he won 'Best Actor' at the LA Underground Film Festival). Briddell oozes charisma and portrays this character like he was born to play it. Briddell's performance is complimented perfectly by that of Jonathan Bennett, who plays his faithful prodigy Harrison. Bennett is great in this dramatic role, and he effortlessly nails the required emotions of his character with great conviction and sincerity. Briddell and Bennett work so well together and have wonderfully believable chemistry. There are also some strong stand-out supporting roles from the likes of Alia Raelynn, Danielle Lozeau and Kris Black.

Overall, this is the work of genius filmmaking, that hits all the right notes. Misogynist is hard-hitting, emotional and downright thrilling. It breaks away from all it's competitors with it's own uniqueness and just goes to prove that you don't need a mind-blowing budget to create a great film. All you need is a great writer, inspired direction and a dedicated and talented cast to make it work, and this film has it all in spades. Spectacular from start to finish.
