Mahesh Bhatt made several films on illegtimate relations like Arth.etc Naajayaz is another such film. The film brings together Ajay and Naseeruddin Shah back after Bedardi(1993) which was a flop. This film is one film which paired Ajay and Bhatt's then fav Juhi Chawla. Naajayaz is a well made film, though story may not be too novel yet it's handling is superb. Naseer plays a don who becomes a Don due to circumstances but is a kind person, he doesn't want his son Deepak Tijori to become like him. His illegitimate son is a cop(Ajay Devgan) The film does contain 90s masala, lots of Ajay's trademark stunts, he keeps chewing a gum throughout the film and has bike stunts,jeep stunts.etc and songs too but the drama is superbly handled.
Direction by Mahesh Bhatt is superb Music by Anu Malik is good, the best song being Barsaat ke Mausam Mein which became a huge hit, sung by Roopkumar Rathod and Kumar Sanu it's amazing, rest songs are good too most being sung by Sanu and Yagnik including the hit song Laal Laal Hoton Pe Stunts are good
Ajay Devgan is superb in his trademark style and does a great job, he was slowly improving those days as an actor and in this film too he stands out, he played a similar role in Kachche Daage and many such films Juhi Chawla plays the cop superbly, she as always gives her best Naseeruddin Shah is amazing as the sympathetic DON and is simply superb Reema Lagoo who played a similar role in Aashiqui is superb in her role as always, Deepak Tijori is amazing in his role Gulshan Grover is superb as the villain, Ashish Vidyarthi is good as Naseer's mute aid.
