Infini (2015)

Like The Crazies in space
17 May 2015
First I must give this movie credit where credit is due: it is the first to tackle horror and fear in space in a long while, possibly even since Event Horizon. We follow the exploration of a rescue team called to investigate disappearances aboard a space station, and the results are chaos at best. Throughout the film we are given slight nods to old horror films, and even such tropes from video games like Dead Space. The set pieces are well done, with tiny corridors and steamy pipes strewn about. The film handles much like The Crazies, in which the space station inhabitants are driven mad by a virus. Where the movie differs, is in its refusal to reduce these characters to zombies. Much like the original outing of I Am Legend, these feral beings battle intimately with their sanity, using old memories to trap prey, making for a more sensible attempt at fearsome enemies. Overall not a bad film, a good indie sci fi as well. Worth a watch at least.
