Warning: Spoilers
"Panic Attack" is a five-minute (4 without credits) movie written and directed by Fede Alvarez, in which the Uruguayan movie maker shows us how his hometown Montevideo is attacked by giant robot creatures. Alvarez is mostly known for remaking Sam Raimi's "Evil Dead", but in this short movie here he takes a brief journey into science fiction before moving on to horror films. However, there is not much to it. The special effects are good and this short film is slightly atmospheric, but yet it does not manage to tell a convincing story. Admittedly, that is a tough challenge for 5 minutes, but many have succeeded. Alvarez and his co-writer Rodo Sayagues do not. I hoped this would have been better. Certainly not as good as it's popular. Not recommended.
