A light hearted watch, with some evergreen actors.

Warning: Spoilers
I had zilch expectations before watching A Walk In The Woods, I had not seen the trailer, I had read no bio, I knew nothing about the film, except that the film started two evergreen stars Robert Redford and Nick Nolte. This was sort of a filler film for me. But I was pleasantly surprised by this nice adventure film about two men who want to discover themselves at the age of 60+. The phrase old is gold suits this film for sure.

The story of the film is about a retired writer Bill Bryson who used to write books about how he traveled the world. He has now been retired for the last 20 years, and his life is boring with his wife, children, grandchildren etc. He is seeing his friends die, and become sick etc, but he doesn't want to be like them and just wither away, so he out of the blue decides to spark up his life by walking the 2,000 plus mile Appalachian trail that takes 5 months to do. His family obviously is against the idea, but he insists, and this is when his wife says that you can, he can do trail, if he finds a partner.Well out of the blue an old friend Stephen agrees to do the trail with him,Stephen has a history of being reckless, but he says he has changed. The rest of the film is about if both Bill and Stephen finish the Appalachian trail.

Acting wise both Robert Redford and Nick Nolte are a treat to watch on screen, I mean even at there age they act amazingly well. They are evergreen forever.

A Walk In The Woods is based on a book I believe, and I can imagine the book might have been very good, because the film is very enjoyable. Its a light hearted watch of two friends re discovering themselves, and there friendship at a old age. Its a feel good film, with a lot of laughs. But where the film lacks is that after the first hr, the film tends to get slow, and boring at many junctures. However the film is probably tended for more older demographic then myself, so maybe some scenes I found boring would work for others.

Overall A Walk In The Woods is a feel good film, that will surely leave a smile on your face. The film maybe about seniors, but the film has something all age groups can enjoy.Just don't go in with too many expectations
