Robins Nest (1980)
8/10
Very enjoyable hardcore outing

Warning: Spoilers
Newlyweds Robin (a sympathetic portrayal from ravishing brunette Arcadia Lake) and Adam (a fine and affable performance by Eric Edwards) find themselves stuck in a stale and unhappy marriage after only six months of living together. The couple decide to separate and seek sexual satisfaction from others in an attempt to rectify the situation.

Writer/director Victor Bertini keeps the engrossing story moving along at a constant pace, does a sound job of creating a genuinely erotic atmosphere, and tops everything off with an amusing sense of cheerful bawdy humor (considering the potentially serious premise, this film turns out to be a lot more lighthearted than one might initially expect it to be). Lake and Edwards display a convincing natural chemistry as the attractive and appealing leads (the pair were a hot item in real life at the time this movie was made), Paul Thomas lends deliciously smarmy support as sleazy blackmailer Larry Hickman, Samantha Fox likewise does well as flaky free spirit Lorraine, and buxom blonde Robin Byrd makes a favorable impression as Robin's lusty gal pal Glenna. Popping up in smaller parts are Marcia Minor as the adulteress Mrs. G. and Crystal Day as the luscious Honey. The sex scenes are quite explicit, arousing, and energetic: Scorching highlights include a sizzling girl/girl session between Robin and Glenna and a lively climactic orgy that's copped off by a funny surprise ending. The right-on funky jazz score by Goldenrod hits the groovy-grinding spot. A nice slice of vintage Golden Age porn.
