Good, but really, really weird film, is less "an exploration of the life and music of Miles Davis", more heist flick, told in flashback, about a reporter, Dave Brill, trying to interview Miles Davis, and subsequently trying to steal a one-of-a- kind, unreleased demo recording. When an A&R man from the record label beats Brill to it, Brill sees his chance with Davis now being to help him get the tape back.
Many of the shots are annoyingly filmed in extreme close-up, and I'm not sure if I enjoyed this film in spite of all of its weirdness, or because of it, but either way, it's a fun ride, just leave your mind at the door, and let its exceptional soundtrack, good acting, and almost surreal, hallucinatory vibe carry you along for the ride.
