Review of Qiu

Qiu (1954)
8/10
A rather good and engaging Hong Kong drama
26 May 2016
This is a 1950s Hong Kong drama about an extended family trying to fend off the odds of being forced out of their village compound from their corrupt and greedy neighbors. I used to watch it with my mom when I was a kid and, though I wasn't too much into historical dramas, I've learned to enjoy the movie and found it entertaining. The plot elements of overcoming the odds, dealing with family issues, sacrifices and love were meaningful in the film and I thought the acting was well done.

Actor Kien Shih of the Bruce Lee movie, Enter the Dragon, has a supporting role in this film.

This movie, titled "Autumn" in English, actually is one of three movies in a series. The two other parts are titled "Family" and "Spring" respectively. "Autumn" is the final chapter in the series.
