The Adventures of Spot (1987–1993)

Charming Cartoon For Toddlers
1 July 2016
Not only did I review Spot's Magical Christmas a several months ago, but I also recently checked out Spot Goes To School and Spot And His Grandparents Go To The Carnival from the library and I felt memories flooding through me. One of my earliest memories consists of sitting on the floor on a beanbag with a box of crackers or a bowl of dry cereal, my blanket, and one or more of my stuffed animals while watching Spot and other Playhouse Disney shows such as The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Madeline, Bear in the Big Blue House, The Book of Pooh, Stanley, Rolie Polie Olie, PB&J Otter, and Out of the Box. Back to Spot, which, as I mentioned in my review of Spot's Magical Christmas, is simply precious with it's droll pleasant storytelling and animation that looks as though it were felted and is true to the style of the books. Plus, the narration is absolutely superb. I don't have a favourite episode or a favourite character but Spot is very cute, Steve is suitable cheeky, Helen is really nice, Tom is funny, and Spot's parents are very loving. The writing also manages to be simple without seeming to be overly so. In conclusion, an excellent show that is certainly guaranteed to delight toddlers.
