Review of Kabali

Kabali (2016)
6/10
Film for Rajani fans only
21 July 2016
Warning: Spoilers
OK, watched the movie amidst theater full of fans. The first fifteen minutes makes you grip to the seat and watch with utter attention. First song, Euphoria subsides and the story starts to drag.It drags so much after interval that even the fans who danced in the beginning are waiting eagerly for some scene or dialogue where they can outlet their energy. But neither the story nor Rajini gives the chance after all how long can one dance for "Kabali da". There is no comedy from Rajini; which was not expected as his role is serious but there is no comic relief from the serious drama from any of the characters. The climax left many viewers guessing. The songs mostly are run in the background which left lot of room to develop the story but the screenplay and direction failed to do so.

Highlight - Rajini comes out of jail and there is a big celebration and youngsters are dancing on his return which shows he is a well known personality, but 20 mins into the movie same Rajini is seen telling his life story to same youngsters who doesn't know anything about him.

Rajini as a super don - was he able to protect his people at least his gang, was he able to fight for them,Was he able to protect himself, did he had secret plans to vanquish his enemies.what happened in jail for 25 years and how could he be remembered by people even after 25 years. All these questions are unanswered or answered as no.

Overall Fans will watch whatever you show them.Others who are in dilemma need not watch. I will rate this as 6 only with respect to Rajini.
