One late night in March 2015, I wasn't quite feeling up for sleeping. Bored out of my mind, I turned to something I had been thinking about the past few days: looking up old cartoons I've watched.
I was only 3 when the second season of Toad Patrol aired, so my memories of it were scattered and truly warped. All I could remember where certain shots, vague character designs, and one keyword: Toadstool.
Based off this, I was luckily able to find it quickly. I watched it, and at first, I wasn't too impressed. The first episode starts off slow, with 8 toadlets stranded in a forest. It wasn't until episode 2 that the show proved itself to me. I quickly grew attached to Earth Star, partially due to realising what would happen later, from what I remembered from the early airings. However, it would be months before I saw the episode I remembered at all, not even in English.
That episode would be The Sacrifice.
Boy, what an episode to remember, no wonder I was scared of accidentally harming mushrooms as a kid.
Anyways, great show, lots of subtle character development, and everyone really needs a hug in season 2.
This show was way ahead of its time.
