I am a big fan of the original Macguyver. I have sincerely tried to "reserve judgment" with this new reboot.
As I have watched the first three episodes of the new reboot I have thought that the writers are playing some kind of stupid joke on the viewers.
Episode Three confirms my suspicions.
In the original series MacGuyver used his wits to resolve problems. The writers for the reboot are apparently not smart enough to find plausible solutions to their problems - they resort to asinine gimmicks. In this episode they have Lucas Til perform major surgery using hand sanitizer for sterilization and a TIRE JACK as a surgical tool. This is just too incredibly stupid to bother with!
On Friday evenings I will be watching DVDs of the original series form now on.
