Aftermath is a Canadian production that blends horror/fantasy elements with a Christian mythology back story with moderate success.

In spite of some of the harsh reviews, I personally don't think this is a bad series. Indeed, for the most part, it holds together quite well. Especially when you consider the complexity of the myth it is based upon.

There are lots of horror elements in play here, skin walker demons, fever heads (zombie like humans) dragon-esque creatures, man eating plants and varied natural disasters to name a few. For the most part this diverse mix is managed and carried quite convincingly. With only occasional moments of corniness and farce.

The characterizations and acting is reasonable too. For the most part the key players are quite down to earth people just trying to survive.Even through they know the odds are heavily stacked against them.

Another thing I like about this series is does have its moments of horror but it doesn't feel the need to be gratuitously violent. This is a nice departure from other end of the world shows, that often feel blood and gore is needed to carry them.

By and large a reasonable production that's interesting and fresh in its subject matter and approach. Seven out of ten from me.
