Review of Luminaris

Luminaris (2011)
7/10
Delightful

Luminaris is a stop-motion human movie that will remind you of the films of the silent films era because of the pace of the movement, the theatricality and expressiveness of the characters, and the overall good sense of humour.

This is a whimsical story with some elements of fantasy and surrealism, with a cohesive narrative, well developed from beginning to end. To be honest, I expected something more complex or perhaps something different, a bit of more oddity, the characters and the beginning of the film allowing that to happen.

One of the things I like the most about this short film is that, despite the vintage elements, it feels fresh, fun and original.

The traditional Argentinean music is just great.
