Zane Grey Theatre: Black Is for Grief (1957)
Season 1, Episode 26
7/10
A faithless wife
18 January 2017
A really good cast populates this episode of the Zane Grey Theater as Tom Tryon comes home on leave from the army where he finds his wife Mala Powers shot dead and sheriff Richard Anderson investigating. There's been talk about Powers, she's the topic of a lot of hot gossip concerning her relations with both Chester Morris and Skip Homeier.

Tryon does his own investigation and hears from Mary Astor who is Morris's wife and Tom Tully who Homeier's father about them. After that he goes home to mother Beulah Bondi and she reveals a most surprising story about how two bullets got into Powers.

This is a good story with a good cast that suffers a bit because of the half hour format of the Zane Grey Theater. A little more development might have been needed. Still this fine cast really delivers.
