Review of Son

Son (2012–2013)
9/10
Engrossing series

Agree with the other reviews. The flashbacks within flashbacks within flashbacks were tricky, especially at the beginning, and with many time differences. More manageable as the series progresses and you 'understand' what's going on. Still, a rather gripping series. The plot lines multiply but they all seem to be connected someway through the characters. And we love the views of everyday Turkish life, homes, decorations, dress; they offer an interesting insight. As one reviewer noted, not scenes of Turkey we normally see in the U.S. There are also scenes in Iran, I believe, and there, too, the background scenery is interesting: the extremely narrow pathways (you can hardly call them streets) in neighborhoods; the barren exteriors and the lush interiors. An interesting lesson in geography.
