Few highlights in this debut feature (Mercedes Cabral >>> , the goat, production quality) can't make up for the overindulgent length, grating main character (i know who he is yeah, sure) and sparse storyline. Lav Diaz please just keep directing. Mercedes was clearly the best part, with that audition probably being cathartic for her, but I don't trust the director and his gaze. The meta aspect's coolness wore off really early into the film for me, and to get through this you have to be into that all the way.
