Shades of Blue in a Nutshell

Warning: Spoilers
This crazy, anything-goes, season finale showcases why I like this ridiculous show: It's just a lot of fun to watch. Turn off your brain and enjoy the soap opera-- This is not a slow burn, Dickensian, quasi-documentary like The Wire. This season finale brings all the craziness of season 2 to the boiling point. We finally get to see a scantily glad Jlo alone with her slobbering, stalker and nemesis, agent Stahl. The sexual tension, not to mention J-Lo's rockin' bod, is milked to the max. Then Wozniack runs into a season ending cliff hanger that is straight out of The Wire: recall the legendary Omar's humbling and fatal encounter with a "rug rat" in a convenience store. Shades... from day one has been a network version of The Shield. This season in addition to the Internal Affairs guy (remember Lt. Cavanaugh) in hot pursuit, the writers even throw in a blackmail box, again, courtesy of The Shield. So I guess I'm saying if you like this show, you'll love the Shield. What makes this one so much fun are the performances of Lopez and Liotta who don't hold back. They are committed to telling this outlandish story and the 45 minutes (always watch on- demand) flies by.
