Chameleons: Not the Sequel may not be a follow-n from John Leslie's earlier, The Chameleon but it shares the same shape-shifting type characters, but this time they can morph into the opposite sex, which can be quite confusing unless you watch very closely. In fact, it is good that this film is available on DVD so that it can be run backwards and forwards to realise what has happened - something I have found necessary to do several times while viewing it. This shows that there is a well written plot and good production values.

The film opens with a strange scene at a night club in which a man is seemingly threatened by a group but he is then straddled by one of the women until he climaxes. If that was supposed to be punishment, then bring it on! It gets weirder after that. It seems that these shape-shifters can assume different identities after they have had sex with their intended victims. Even at the end you are still left wondering if what you see is really what is meant to be.

Deidre Holland as Claudine is absolutely stunning in this film as is her rival, or should that be co-conspirator, Ashlyn Gere. John Leslie has written a film that could stand on its own without the hard porn but as the old saying goes, it is necessary to the plot. I just wish there was a bit more playfulness to the sex but watching this shows what hard core porn is all about, especially Ashlyn and Deidre being pounded from the rear by Rocco Siffredi - classic.
