Review of Lake Placid

Lake Placid (1999)
8/10
Deserves better reviews.

Lake Placid may come across to you as the most quotable, cheesy, hilarious film you'll see this year, and this is why I liked it so much. It's intentionally hilarious and cheesy and does a good job of resembling the style of low budget B-movies IF you ignore the big name actors. I'm a bit surprised that some of the critics didn't catch the intelligence of the film's humour and how the characters can be so likable despite how unlikable they are, and you could have a jolly good fun time of an argument about who the best character in the film was. The editing is surprisingly good and actually adds a neatly humorous style to the movie and the visuals are nicely eye-pleasing, and in my horrible opinion the film is twenty billion times better than it has the right to be. It's not deserving of a long review, but it's better than good as a film to pass time.
