Let's start with casting. This movie has so much star value starting from Vijay to AAR, Samantha, Kajal, Nithya Menon, Vadivelu, SJ Suriya, Sathyaraj, Kovai Sarala... The biggest positive for the movie is actor Vijay. He adapted to all the characters very well especially the flashback Vettrimarran role. Rural background and dialogue delivery of Vijay in the Vettrimarran role is convincing. It's a new experience for fans. SJ Suriya is another positive. Although he has short screen space, his acting and dialogue delivery is extremely great. We get goosebumps sometimes. Actor Vijay outcasts all other actors and occupies most of the screen space. Nithya Menon, Sathyaraj and Vadivelu used their given space and did their job well. let's hope this movie will be good come back for Vadivelu. Kovai Sarala is over expressive, we can't even watch her scene. Love portions of Samatha are fresh and enjoyable but out of the story. Kajal Aggarwal is literally wasted, added just to increase star value of the movie. Her absence won't even affect the movie in any way.

Kollywood should stop forcing songs into movies, at least they should reduce the number of songs to maximum two. The cinematography is very well, we can literally feel the budget used on the screen. The effort they took to recreate flashback sequence can be felt clearly in tools used in operation theater shoot.

From the intro scene (Sivaji arresting) to Climax scene (Kathi press meet) we can't ignore images from past movies coming in between the movie. He literally copied scenes from the movie "Now you see me", which is completely stupid because that movie is very popular many people have watched it. The movie is bit lengthy, we can feel it. Overused cinematic liberty especially magic stunts that should have been avoided. Instead of presenting Vijay as a magician, he's presented like a superhero with supernatural magic power.
This movie conveys a strong social message about Hospital lobbying. Dialogues are bold. We have to appreciate Vijay for his bold attempt to talk about GST, Demonization and other issues. Still, the audience has a feeling that Vijay is doing it as a prework for his political career. Especially too much of MGR reference rises unnecessary suspicion.
