One of the best aspects of 'Commencement' is that it takes my least favorite plot point from "Lethal Weapon 2" and somehow capitalizes on it, making it better. Suddenly, the almost-closed wound that is Miranda is viciously reopened, and Riggs is gunning for the Flores cartel. It's a dramatic episode that both imperils and strengthens the Riggs/Murtaugh partnership. The twists are bold and the tone takes on a darkness similar to the first movie. And just then everything winds naturally to a close, that cliffhanger just sneaks up behind you.
I have to say, for a show that looked decent at best, it sure ended with a bang (no pun intended). Hell of a finish.
