Super Mario Odyssey (2017 Video Game)

A Video Game Like No Other! A Non-Traditional And Inventive Open World!
4 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Super Mario Odyssey is a meta-celebration of the world's most famous video game character and one that relishes in the history of Nintendo itself. There are callbacks to games like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (with the church on the Moon Kingdom), and even a world in the game that's one giant homage to Super Mario 64: in that case it's the Mushroom Kingdom and its many easter eggs calling back to that game. Heck, the Snow Kingdom is somewhat reminiscent of a level in Banjo Kazooie (from former Nintendo company Rareware) and some of the Crash Bandicoot games. Heck; even New Donk City feels like a sterilised version of the Grand Theft Auto parody of New York, Liberty City. And New Donk is just as fun as Liberty City.

Odyssey is a massive game; when you finish the main story there's still so much stuff to do. It rewards you for sticking with the game through to the finale. It rewards you for traversing hard-to- reach territory and you can even progress through the 'story' in a non-linear way, reminiscent of other open world games that Mario Odyssey not only builds on, but arguably improves on as well.

If there was no real reason to buy a Nintendo Switch before, even with the amazing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild to add to Odyssey, well now we have the Mario game the world's been eagerly awaiting. And it does not disappoint.
