American culture is stamped with misogyny
11 December 2017
12/11/17. Four decades after the Women's Lib movement, misogyny pervades American culture. Misogyny and sexism are part of the mainstream American media, and femininity continues to be viewed and defined in negative ways. Hateful attitudes toward women continue to be an acceptable to view women's place in society. Such strategies include the hyper-sexualization of commercial products aimed at girls, to the depiction of gender violence in video games aimed at boys; sexist rants of hip-hop artists and talk radio shock jocks, feminism continues to be demeaned in every corner of American pop culture. Is it any wonder why #MeToo's time has come? Worth catching.
