The film Bliss was a heart touching film. It showed us the fight between older traditions and modern traditions. The main character, Meryem, was found on a beach and was unconscious. Everyone in her town thought that she had sex with a man and she was instantly shunned. Meryem was told that she had to kill herself to keep her family's honor. She could not do so. Ali Riza calls his son, Cemal, to take her away and kill her. Meryem and Cemal instantly have a connection but he could not kill her. Through the course of the film, Cemal begins to fall in love with Meryem, but his traditional standards keep them apart. They meet a man named Irfan and he lets them work on his boat. When Irfan hears of their situation he tells Cemal that he should not let his tradition get in the way of the one he loves. The movie ends when we find out that Cemal's father was the one who raped Meryem. This movie showed us that you should not let your traditions or your upbringing get in the way of who you love and your future.
