Designated Survivor: Line of Fire (2017)
Season 2, Episode 10
8/10
A Gleam of Hope...
19 December 2017
Warning: Spoilers
It was not unpredictable and definitely didn't "knock my socks off", it was though, the most powerful moments this series has experienced since its second season's begun.

The major problem is writing. Designated Survivor Season 2 is poorly written. just 2 episodes have got acceptable but not great writing. It's less compelling, less thrilling. Compared to the first season, it's considered as a failure. 60% of plots which were written for just one episode were completely unnecessary. The political crises (!) were too simple, too unreal, too wishy-washy and were solved only by Kirkman shouting like Jack Bauer! By bullying the Jack Bauer's side of Kiefer Sutherland! just like episode 7's crisis. In the real world, this is not what happens.

Mr Keith Eisner, the new Show runner, has added 3 new characters. Damian Rennett is the only new character that is interesting. Lyor has done absolutely nothing but bringing a kind of humor, which I hate, to a series which is fundamentally super serious! Come on!!!!! If I wanted a comdey-based political drama, I would try "Weep"! I guess writers have forgotten quintessence of this series! It's not House of Cards or Weep or West wing or Scandal or 24! For god's sake, This "Designated Survivor" has got more potentials. Kind of potential's that HOC or the other above-mentioned series, have never got the chance to have. Yet, the writers are fully wasting these potentials by talking about bees (episode 9) and the same matters.

To Mr. Keith Eisner and his coworkers : "Can't you really come up with something more than this??? more suspenseful that this? more intense than this? more real than this? Can't you get rid of irritating subplots and start telling 5 or 6 interconnected major plots? I swear I myself can tell 5 o 6 stories far better than what the first half of this season has told! You're wasting every potential this series has. The number of viewers has been dramatically decreased due to your tireless effort of bringing new West Wing in. Nevertheless, you don't have to. The cast is fantastic, but only because of your weak writings, they can't shine, they can't act the way they are capable of. Stop ruining this series with these illogical ideas! The idea of telling these kind of stories for 22 episodes is basically wrong."

This Episode "Line of Fire", regardless of the stubborn extremists plot which was an awful one, was overall acceptable, far weaker than "The End of the Begining", yet. A major character has been written off in the way which was the easiest! Just a normal accident! And there's apparently a lot about Damian we got to find out! A gleam of hope for a strong and suspenseful second half. May this hope will not be dashed!!!
