Another Close Call for Jorge
11 January 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The Cali cartel searches for the rat who gave up the location of Miguel. Jorge must take the accusations off of himself somehow. Meanwhile, Pena attempts to find Christina in order to make her husband testify. This involves fighting the jungle communist guerrillas of FARQ who are holding Christina for the cartel. Guillermo worries that the cartel will soon be attempting to tie up loose ends and decides to book it.

Narcos continues to be a fascinating TV show. Even in this episode, which was primarily used to build up to the final 2 episodes of the season, had me on the edge of my seat. There's so much tension with any scene involving Jorge now as he tries his hardest to get out. The writers have done a great job making him the antihero that the audience is rooting for.

Pena's story in this one was far less interesting than Jorge's. Every time we switched back to Pena, it really ruined the tension that had been building during Jorge's scenes. I know I'm suppose to care about this kidnapped American woman being held in the jungle but I really just didn't. It was nice to see Don Berna and the Castano brothers once again but, for the most part, this section of the episode was a dud.

The two murder scenes in this episode were both absolutely brutal. Enrique's death was horrifying to watch; Franklin's was gory and obscene. If it hadn't been emphasized enough already it is quite clear now: the Cali cartel will do whatever it takes to protect itself!
