Short and to the point with a domestic violence angle to the killings instead of just some random monster in the woods. In a way it was almost too simple, it might have been fun to play with the idea that perhaps there was a monster in the woods all along, but instead reveal the boyfriend, rather than just have him be it from the get go. But this was super low budget and a first feature for most involved, so you can applaud their restraint at not taking on more than they could handle. While the start is a touch slow, there's a solid score and the tension does increase as the killings start.
Worth tracking down, especially to support solid indie filmmakers who aren't pretentious snobs.
