I wouldn't say The Breadwinner stands as a crowning achievement in animation. It certainly stands as one of the best animated films of 2017, but considering how weak the year was for animation, it's not saying much. The animation itself is very old-fashioned in an elegant, classical way, and the story is also powerful while being simple. Ultimately this is definitely a film that is worth seeking out for many audience members.
