I read reviews mentioning parent trap, true, same pattern. But hey, there are certain patterns most movies been built on. Just enjoy the movie and don't be too critical about it. It wa never meant to be an outstanding Oscar movie. It's a cute and lovely movie. Perfect around Christmas time. I love it!
