A comedy which could have been better with right direction and script
25 August 2018
I had a huge expectation from Happy Phirr Jayegi as I loved the first part, Happy Bhag Jayegi, released in 2016. After watching the trailer of Happy Phirr Jayegi , my expectation were shadowed with not-so-great dialogues and too much things going on one frame. I was right after watching the film as well. Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi is an acid test you have to go through to test your intelligence.

Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi is a comedy of errors when Happy (Sonakshi Sinha) is kidnapped by the local goons in China who mistaken her for the original Happy (Diane Penty). What follows next is the series of confusion and mistaken identities.

Mudassar Aziz does well in the Happy Bhag Jayegi where he gives utmost importance to the key characters and result is fruitful. He tries to repeat the same in the sequel by bringing in more characters (Jassi Gill and Sonakshi Sinha) and confuses you with too much of things going one in just matter of seconds. Sometimes, you have to gather your wits to understand what is actually going on. Movie does starts of well with hilarious moments and few scenes are actually enjoyable but the second half tumbles down. The screenplay is fitted with too many loop holes. Art direction is good with high production value. Cinematography is top notch. Songs are fine. Dialogues are humorous.

The only saving grace in the film is the performances. Jimmy Shergill leads the way with perfect comic timing. He is outstanding and brings down the house with his antics. He is equally supported by Piyush Mihsra who will tickle your funny bone. Sonakshi Sinha is just abut okay. Jassi Gill Does not have much to do along with Diane Penty and Ali Fazal.

Overall, a comedy which could have been better with right direction and script. Decent 2 /5
