Strong cast, but the film isn't without its flaws

Warning: Spoilers
Several reviewers have summarized the plot, so I won't re-hash that. It was nice to see several of these actors again and there were several strong performances. The plot set aside many stereotypes of older people; there were no knitting, cookie-baking grandmas in sight and no doddering, holding-their-pants-up grandpas. However, in one way, this film stuck to the Hollywood norms. Older men outnumber older women and therefore, have their choice among those who are available. The men in this movie headed straight for the slender women with long blonde hair. Dyan Cannon is so thin that the plumpest thing on her is her lips. Sally Kellerman, too, is very thin, almost to the point of looking unhealthy. They play interesting, nice people, but so does Brenda Vaccharo, but are the men looking at any of the plump women or the ones with shorter hair? Nope. I would like to think that, as men get older, they would value not just looks, but personality, kindness, intelligence, humor, and more.
