Episode 1.1

Channel 5 looks to get serious by tackling a subject who has had her fair share of BBC4 and Channel 4 documentaries as well as her young life dramatised on ITV.

Actually the writer of Victoria, Daisy Goodwin pops up as a talking head as well as the usual suspects such as AN Wilson who has fronted documentaries on Victoria.

This first episode is a rapid fire look at Victoria's love for Prince Albert, her devastating loss of her husband and Victoria left to raise her children on her own. Victoria was bossy and controlling as her children got older and got married. Her eldest son Bertie could not do anything without getting her mother's approval first.

I am not sure compared to the millions of her subjects in the UK and the Empire, Victoria's family could be classified as tragic.
