Oddball horror that no connoiseur should miss!
7 October 2018
The song playing over the end credits sums this up perfectly: It's a midnight movie, as in a fun, bizarre movie you'd find yourself watching at midnight. Made for $7K in 14 weeks on Rebel Without a Crew, Josh Stifter made a LOT out of a little. When we first meet the main character, Father Gil, boogeying to death metal, it sets the tone for the oddball movie you're about to watch. It doesn't take itself seriously, the actors are hamming it up to sometimes cartoonish proportions, and it's a fun ride all the way through. While it focuses more on the strange cast of characters than the horror, the ending sequence is impressive considering the small budget. The only complaint for me is just sound audio issues, particularly with dialogue, but that almost feels part of the low-budget, grindhouse-y package. Get a group of friends together and have a blast.
