Review of Commando

Commando (2013)
4/10
Only good for action scenes

Warning: Spoilers
It was obvious from the trailer that the movie involves a simple script only to provide a premise for lots of action. And surely, it delivers what it's made for. Action + Stunt scenes. However, the movie hurts a lot because of brainless holes in the script. As it happens in almost all the movies these days, this one also considers the audience 'idiots'. So many times I felt the itch of why the heck was I even watching the film in full motion? Shouldn't I just forward it to the place there is another action/stunt scene? If I would have done so, I would have surely rated it slightly higher. Some main points are discussed below.

A man in captivity since a year, suspected for being first level spy, highly trained in everything is being transported in open jeep with four mediocre police officers. Really? To whom it makes any sense?

Protagonist in the first fight against political goons picks a gun from one of them. But instead of keeping it with him, he tosses it somewhere. Later in the movie, so many times he could pick guns from the ground after killing the enemy goons. He knows he would be dealing about fifty more enemies soon. Still, he just picks a knife. Really? He's a commando? A military man? Probably an idiot, who's looking for an act of heroism to impress the girl.

Villain is getting crazy to capture the protagonist alive so that he can kill him in the market in front of others. He strictly prohibits everyone not to shoot him. He even kills a man who does so. And then what? He throws him into the river after capturing him, knowing that he is extremely high trained military officer, and he has already survived river jump only few hours ago. What the heck!

A professional assassin hired for killing protagonist decides to wrestle-fight him, instead of just killing him using a gun. Never was it shown that he had personal hatred for the man. He was just a job for him. Then why? Who he was trying to impress?

Protagonist kills about thirty people to get to the villain. And then he doesn't kill the villain, even though he could have done so easily. Ok! He wanted to prove others that their fear is the strength of the goons like him. But, really, what did he accomplish? The movie ends as if it has a happy ending. But where it is? The villain is still a politician in power, and nothing has been proven against him. He would easily avenge heroine for the few slaps while the protagonist would be away on his court marshal.

Only reason I've given the movie 4 stars is because of the good stunts scenes by the protagonist. But, honestly, youtube is filled with hundreds of thousands of real life stunts clips. Why watch a movie for that?
