"Jerry and the Lion" is an American cartoon from 1950, so almost 70 years old now and the title already gives away that here we got another Hanna Barbera movie starring the world's most famous cat&mouse duo. And it is all about a catfight here as Jerry makes friends with a lion who comes from the circus, but wants to get back to Africa. Strangely enough he does not mind the bars or the little space when citing his reasons. That lions when we see him seems like one of the most harmless lions you have ever come across in film, but when you don't see him he keeps beating the crap out of Tom. Okay that locker scene wasn't too bad and there's two or three other moments that are somewhat decent, butg overall, it is not one of my favorite T&J shorts, which has to do with the fact thatg Jerry was criminally underused here. Tom was better, but also acting like a fool at times. For example if he really thinks he shot Jerry dead, then why go get the first aid set when he is all about hunting the little mouse down afterwards. Doesn't make too much sense. Also not too big on the lion's voice I must admit. So overall, I have to give this 7-minute cartoon (slightly under) a thumbs-down and negative recommendation. Still if you love T&J, it's probably worth checking out.
