Warning: Spoilers
Ah, I get it now. Remember when Stephan Curry stated in an interview that he thought the moon landing was fake? He must have just watched the Season 11 opener of 'The X-Files' and stopped his research right there. That would explain a lot.

Well, it's been a while since I watched the Season 10 episodes, but now I'm back with the entire eleventh season that I can watch without the week long wait in between shows. This one felt like a catch up for viewers who might have forgotten what the series was all about, but just when it seemed like human/alien hybrids were disavowed last season, the idea is reintroduced again with the Cigarette Smoking Man offering cryptic suggestions about the identity of Scully and Mulder's son, William. I don't know, the back and forth with the conspiracy theories gets overwhelming at a certain point, and even if you were a regular follower of the X-Files back in the day, it's difficult to keep track of who's who and what's what after so many shows.

If you weren't a follower of the series and this was your first opportunity, it would be pretty easy to get turned off by David Duchovny's portrayal of agent Fox Mulder in this story. He's so intense over Scully's (Gillian Anderson) hospitalization that he comes across as entirely unlikeable pretty much from beginning to end. When he slashed the assassin's throat that tried to kill Scully, I thought he might have gotten it out of his system, but he still had to deal with Skinner (Mitch Pillegi), and figure out how to deal with the Cigarette Smoking Man (William B. Davis). Smoking Man appeared to have convalesced pretty well between seasons, he looked terrible in the Season Ten cliffhanger with the disfigured face and phony nose. Man, but didn't he look awful?

Well, what we know now, at least for the time being, is that Smoking Man claims that HE's the father of Scully's son (don't worry, it was done via insemination), and that William's still in hiding. Smoking Man is in possession of an alien pathogen, and needs William somehow to wipe out humanity!!! A new character 'Y' (A.C. Peterson) is introduced and in league with Erica Price (Barbara Hershey), offering Mulder information and advice to entice him to take out the Cancer Man. It all sounds intriguing enough for an X-Files episode, but the rushed nature of this one has a tendency to bring the quality of the show down from where it used to be. Time will tell I guess.
