The Substitute (I) (2015)
8/10
Fascinating take on gender

Warning: Spoilers
This film had me thinking for weeks afterward. Not 2001 thinking but more Village of the Damned. It was written by a woman Sims-Fewer reflecting upon her experience in a British boarding school. For those who claim it's mysoginistic I wonder if you're towing some "I will get credit for this" or " I don't want any dystopia if it makes me feel uncomfortable" I think women will get this far more than men (no offense it's like the stealing my unborn child trope..do others not mother's really relate?) I've heard most reviewers complain (other sites) that Spoiler *** alert***mild**"*** They never discover the answer to "what's behind the door" Really? It doesn't matter, that's Not what this movie is about. It's about power and complicity. It's about the buzzer of the unknown. It's the trapped witness doubting their eyes. Brilliant short that felt longer in the best possible way. It would make a great example in a thesis and its awards speak to its universal fears and truths. Please make more movies!!
