Back in the 1920s and 30s, the MIckey McGuire shorts made Mickey Rooney a big star. Despite this, however, "Mickey's Thrill Hunters" is just stupid...leaving you to wonder if the studio simply ran out of ideas. And, having seen quite a few of the Mickey McGuire films, I know that they can be a lot better than this.
The story begins with Mickey and his gang out cleaning windows with scaffolding on a high rise apartment. First, who thought this was a good idea, having small children a hundred or more feet off the ground? Second, why aren't all the adults going nuts trying to stop the boys?! It simply defies logic. And, in addition, there are very, very few laughs to be had and the big laugh at the end involving a car simply seemed dumb and very contrived. A clear misfire.
