"Murot und das Murmeltier" is part of the well-known German "Tatort" series. In this episode investigator Murot is caught in the same day time and again, trying to prevent a desperate man from robbing a bank.
This episode immensely differs from what you'd usually expect from this series. It is abstract, plays with supernatural elements and thus leaves the boundaries of logic and reason. It is quite clear that the concept of "Groundhog Day" was taken over 1:1 by the producers but in my opinion that does no harm. I really enjoyed the humor, was excited to see the ending and even though the solution is, as always in this series, rather mundane, I had a good time waiting for it.
All in all I enjoyed the new wind and value the bravery to air such an alternative episode. More fresh ideas would suit the series well!
