Story ripping off the Robert Silverberg Story Man in the maze seems to be the order of day.Lets decode Spocks brain. Etc. Commander Boredom is off in her inter galactic shuttle cruising the universe. Remember this is 10 years before the enterprise went on its five year mission and I am struggling to see how Pike would know about the aliens. Not content with ripping off Harry Harrison's Cheddite drive but playing it straight we are now treated to another awful episode.
So they have the mushroom drive which lets them travel the universe instantaneously. This makes a mockery of Star Trek plus Voyager, stuck in the alpha quadrant? Apply the shroom drive! Now it only lasted one season. Did Spock ever mention a sista in the original series? Nope? Did he have a beard and look like one of the Klingon, nope?
Series 2 has been so bad but this was not the worst episode. That was last weeks. Imagine there is now a series which makes Spocks Brain seem like Oscar winning material.
Positives, Pike has not died yet. Negatives everything else.
