The Calm Before, a mind blowing graphic novel accurate episode
25 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This episode is so true to the same event that happened in the graphic novel, I honestly felt they did it better on the snow which is a big thanks to more fledged out scenes, making us truly go deep into the story and the horrific events that unfolds. Laura Belsey directs the episode with such care and specifics, getting it right with the graphic novel, you can almost see the pages on the screen, great work. The editing and cinematography was some of the best since episode 5 and 8. This was one of the best episodes of the whole show and certainly one of the season's best. Giving us suspension, unpredictable outcomes and superb drama. This event will hopefully be remembered as an iconic episode of TV history as it succeeds in drama.

Seeing the whole ensemble cast being together was something I've missed, the show just gets so much better when everyone is apart it but the cast is too big to fit everyone in every single episode. Everyone kicked ass in this episode, the zombie killing editing was a throwback to season 6, just fine zombie killing. Seeing Connie and Kelly having that heart to heart conversation was great, getting to know those two characters even more. The whole fair was excellent, seeing various of characters interact like everything is alright is probably something we won't see for a long time. To the emotional ending, they did an great job of recreating the horrible event with the heads on the pole, having killed off various of characters but the unexpected ones was Enid and Tara. That's just heavy, two great characters dead in one meaningful way. Michoone's throwback speech to the prison Era made sense, Tara have always been an dislikeable character but the character development she has had on the show is just perfect. The two will be missed.
