Our Planet (2019–2023)
9/10
Absolutely beautiful
5 April 2019
Upon viewing the premier yesterday evening, being only the first episode, what I appreciated the most was the quality of the footage. It really brought the show to life, almost feeling like I was really there in various environments around the planet. Everything appeared so beautiful and natural, but with nature there were obviously sad moments too.

The first episode felt like an introduction to the rest of the series and I am very much looking forward to watching the remaining episodes, once they become available on Netflix later today, where I expect the true threats to the various fragile environments which form our planet will be explained.

Before the premier we were treated to clips of the crews filming at various locations, from wading waste deep through mosquito infested swaps in a rainforest to living in huts for weeks to try and capture a glimpse of a Siberian tiger. The harsh environments they endure for weeks or months at a time, sometimes to obtain footage lasting just a few seconds, or none at all, is inspiring in itself.

Sir David is a true inspiration for past, present and future generations. They way he construes information to the viewers is warm and simple, yet all the messages he wants to deliver are received very well.
