Review of Madhuraraja

Spoiler alert#if you are yet to see the movie you might need to erase some part of your memory after reading this, but any way everything in this movie is predictable When mega star mammoty sir acted in thommanum makkalum in 2005 it was a revealation to the world how he is versatile with comedy roles, then same formula repeated many a times some becoming box office super duper hits like rajamanikyam and pokkiri raja but others like thappana and mayabazar went through the drains . In 2010 when the director vysakh and mammoty sir came together for pokkiri raja , the director made sure that the comedy essence of mammoty could be exploited to the maximum and he made sure that what ever formulae that was used and found success in thommanum makkalum should be made available in his movie also , thus actor lal's character who used manglish and lightened up the theater in thommanum makkal became the prime characteristics of the lead actor in pokkiri raja. That was in 2010 and we all loved that then. But in 2019 when we have already seen mammoty sirs much mature roles as the well loved politician ysr in yatra and amuthavan in perenbu we couldnt just accept him speaking abhorrent english and making a mockery of himself. It felt that the director hasnt moved on since 2010. If mammoty sir speaking manglish was the comdey intended then this author dont understands how the director thought to add comedy (spoiler alert#)during the death of one of the protogonists near one.there are times when audience hope to hear a malayalam word from the actors mouth and as if too much sugar spoiling the dish the too much ill usage of english jus spoiled the show. Jai was the only element that kept me watching the movie, the character chinnan was fun aswell as adorable, spoiler alert # but some how the script writer convinced the director that the movie can only have an end with the end of the only adorable character in the movie. Its actually funny how the director convinced the actor to shot the final sequences of his role because it seems illogical and irational how the character dies. I am not sure why chinnas "anbu thozhan" played by comedian noby just drove away the boat with chinnas girlfriend when they were attacked by a bunch of altmost 5dogs leaving chinna to be eaten alive by them , I guess noby was big enough to handle atleast three dogs and yet he didnt lift his little finger, I reckon the audience might have lifted their mean finger towards the director for asking the actor to flee from the scene. Any way we can pardon the director as the story lacked a backbone that could engage the audience for 140 mins and still he manged somehow to deliver something better than nothing. And since that something include sunny leone I guess the movie is a one time watch for malayalees who flooded the streets to have a glimpse of a sunny day at kochi.
