Kavaludaari (2019)
7/10
An example balanced and mature filmmaking

Another example of how captivating films can be created not only with a low budget but also without needless glamour and dazing star cast!

The plot, per se, isn't innovative but doesn't bore either. The actors seem natural and no character feels out of the place. IMHO, it requires a unique skillset to create a film where no single character steals the show but the movie as a whole leaves a positive impact. There is a tinge of mellowness around the whole screenplay.

The pace is unnecessarily slowed at places as if the screenplay writer hit some block! They could have easily reduced 10-15 minutes. Frequent songs, albeit with sensible lyrics and playing in the background, tend to irritate a bit. The writer has gone too far to connect the dots in the climax.

It's a good watch, especially, for people who have grown weary of the substandard show business of Bollywood. Indian regional films, especially the ones from South India, are far better in terms of the screenplay, direction, acting and the overall presentation.
