Review of Ultraviolet

Ultraviolet (2017– )
10/10
A surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one

The moment I saw the intro I knew I was in for a ride. The foreshadowing in it is superb, not to mention the wonderful song. I was completely blown away. The first episode is good, but the series just keeps getting better and better, so I would advise a bit of patience if the first one did not hook you immediately. The last two episodes are especially fantastic and super tense.

The plots, although interesting and unusual (just see what they came up with for episode 2), tended to be farfetched and full of happy coincidences, and often with rushed resolutions. Yet, for me it was not a problem, because I was more interested in the character interactions and stories were entertaining enough. Besides, I like it when there is a bit of cheesiness.

The cast is full of wonderful, likable and memorable characters. Special shutout to Piast, who is adorable tech whiz and is my favorite member of Ultraviolet. However, Michal Holender and Ola Serafin are the stars of the show. Their banter is brilliant and sexual tension between them gets unbearable. They have so much chemistry that it is a delight to see them on screen together. The series could be only about them and I would still watch it.

If I was more objective I would give it 7 or 8 stars, because of the problems with the plots, however I cannot deny that I fell in love with this series. For me it is a straight 10/10 and I can barely contain my excitement for season 2.
